Do you ever feel bored? Are there times in your life where you feel sick of doing the same thing day in and day out? Perhaps you feel incomplete or unsettled. Maybe you are in need of change. Change doesn’t have to be drastic. Sometimes we need to change our point of view, our perspective and other times we may be in need of something slightly different like a change to our routine.
Are you doing things in your life that bring you joy? Maybe you are in needing of adding more joyful activities into your day. Maybe you are in need of more relaxing moments. It could be you are stuck in the same thought pattern – in a loop of constantly thinking about the same things all of the time. Creating a pattern and a habit that you stick to. Sometimes it’s difficult to get out of that groove. You work so hard to make things feel natural and balanced only to find your life feeling a bit dull. They say variety is the spice of life. Are you incorporating enough of different things that you enjoy? Are there things in your life that you used to enjoy but now doesn’t bring the same spark, but you continue to force yourself to do them because you feel you need to because it used to be a part of you? How can you make simple changes that will make a huge impact?
One simple change to your day can be practicing a LONG meditation. I know 5 minutes may seem productive enough that you can cross it off your to-do list. But maybe the reason you are feeling bored is all of the free time on your hands. You may feel you need to fill up that time and space and be productive with things only leading yourself to feel more and more empty. Try instead to boost your meditation practice to be 5 minutes longer each week. Start with 5 minutes, then 10, 15, 20. You get the idea. Work your way up until you are filling more of your time with meditation. Try doing 20 minutes in the morning and 20 minutes in the evening as a base. When you clear your mind you will make space for cultivating gratitude and joy and will be able to fill the rest of your day with whatever comes up.
Other examples of change could be a change in your diet. Are you incorporating nourishing foods into your lifestyle? What time of the year is it? You may enjoy soups during the winter and juices during the summer.
Incorporate a yoga practice – even if it means spending 15 minutes on balancing poses in your living room. Do something different that you don’t normally do. Switch up your workout. If you are used to taking a spinning class then go to the pool and go for a swim. Sometimes we need to break out of our comfort zones in order to reach new levels even in our fitness. If you love your yoga class try changing up the time of day you practice or try a new studio out for a class or two.
At the end of the day change is up to you. Your life is made up of a series of choices – it’s what you do with your time day in and day out that makes a huge impact on how you feel.
